My name is Daaus and I am 63 years old and come from Iraq.

I live with my daughter who is 24 in a studio apartment on the west side of town.

We have been in America for 3 months and we have not met any Americans.  My daughter has not been able to find work, and I am not able to work because of medical problems.

Our resettlement agency has paid our rent for the first 3 months, but we are expected to make it on our own after that.  We don’t know how we will pay our rent next month.

Mostly we are lonely and a little bit afraid to go out.  We wish we had some American friends.
