Thank you for praying for English Camp! I realize that a couple of weeks have gone by since then, but I traveled out of town directly after camp and then I was busy playing "catch up" with my life that I had put on hold to plan for camp.

Please forgive me for not writing sooner. If you joined us in prayer then you were a vital part of English Camp and I want you to know how many ways God answered our prayers! It was an incredible event!!

Here are just a few of the things we can praise God for:

  • There were 28 wonderful volunteers and 33 international campers who attended and the numbers ended up to be just perfect.
  • The kids program was almost one-on-one which allowed us to give special love and attention to each little one.
  • The cooks served some delicious food and we even had enough to give away to the campers when they went home.
  • The ESL teachers were so good that the campers thought they were all professionals and raved about their teaching, and several have even invited their teachers to come teach them at home!

  • Relationships were formed and several volunteers are now feeling God's urging to be more involved with the refugees - PTL!
  • The sense of community among us was strong and even some of the campers commented how we felt like one big family, it was as if we had been together all week!
  • Trust was built and we know now that if we plan this camp again we will probably be overrun with campers.
  • I have visited a few of these campers in the past week and they have expressed how much they loved camp, and they wanted to know why we did it... which for me was a perfect opportunity to tell them about the Kingdom of God.
  • We had enough funds to cover everything =).

Thank you to 22nd Street Baptist Church who donated several items for camp that their VBS kids collected! That was a blessing!

Thank you also to Pantano Christian who donated some arts & crafts supplies that really came in handy!

Thank you to the Sharing Ministry who donated most of the food for camp!

Thank you Catalina Baptist Association, Casas, NAMB, and also a few private donors for your dollar investments that helped make this camp possible!

And thank you to each of you who lifted up this endeaver in prayer! God was truly in our midst! As the kids sang, “Our God is so big, so strong and so mighty, there's nothing my God cannot do!!”

Serving a Mighty God... Cherie
